What does the Bible say about real love?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that real love comes from God, is revealed supremely in Jesus Christ, and gladly seeks the good of others in obedience to Him. God showed this love by giving His Son for sinners, and Christ showed it by laying down His life for His friends (John 3:16; John 15:13). Through the Holy Spirit, God pours His love into believers' hearts (Romans 5:5), so they are called to love one another as Christ loved them (John 13:34). Such love does no harm, is patient and unselfish, and keeps God's commandments from faith and gratitude (Romans 13:10; 1 Corinthians 13:5; 1 John 5:3).
