What does the Bible say about the age of the earth?

The Bible teaches that God created all things by his powerful word, but it does not plainly state the earth’s age in modern chronological terms. Genesis 1:1-31 and Exodus 20:11 present creation as God’s deliberate work in six days, followed by his rest on the seventh, and many Christians understand these days as ordinary days.
