What does the Bible say about body of christ?

The Bible teaches that all who are united to Christ by faith belong to one spiritual body, with Christ Himself as the head, and are called to live in humble love, unity, and mutual service. Christ gives His church diverse gifts and members so that each believer may contribute to the good of the whole (Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 27). Though Christians differ in calling and ability, they share one Lord, one faith, and one saving Spirit. Ephesians 4:12-16 teaches that church leaders equip the saints for ministry so the body grows into maturity in Christ.
