What does the Bible say about going to the doctor?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible encourages seeking wise help for bodily needs while placing our deepest trust in the Lord, who alone gives life, healing, and peace. James 5:14 calls the sick to seek the prayers and care of the church, and 3 John 1:2 reflects a godly concern for physical well-being. Christians may thankfully use physicians and medical means as gifts of God's providence, without treating them as ultimate saviors. In illness and uncertainty, Isaiah 41:10 and Philippians 4:6-7 call us to reject fear, pray, and rest in God's sustaining presence. Psalm 107:20 praises God as the One who heals, while Isaiah 53:1-12 directs us above all to Christ, whose saving wounds bring reconciliation with God.
