What does the Bible say about helping the helpless?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible calls God’s people to reflect his mercy by defending, serving, and bearing with those who cannot help themselves, while trusting that salvation itself comes through Christ for the helpless. Proverbs 31:8-9 commands believers to speak for the voiceless and seek justice for the poor. Isaiah 25:4 portrays the Lord as a refuge for the needy, and Romans 5:6, 8 shows his greatest help in sending Christ to die for sinners while they were weak. Romans 15:1-7 urges the strong to bear the weaknesses of others rather than please themselves. Yet our service does not replace Christ: 2 Corinthians 12:9 teaches that his grace is sufficient and his power is perfected in weakness.
