What does the Bible say about liberality?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that believers should give generously, freely, and joyfully, trusting God and seeking the good of others rather than their own praise. God loves a cheerful giver, and our generosity is a grateful response to his grace, not a means of earning favor with him (2 Corinthians 9:7). Christ himself became poor for our sake that we might become rich in him (2 Corinthians 8:9), making his self-giving love our pattern. Scripture calls us to share with those in need, show hospitality, and do good especially to fellow believers (Hebrews 13:16; Romans 12:13; Galatians 6:10). Such giving must flow from love, for even great sacrifice without love profits nothing (1 Corinthians 13:3).
