What does the Bible say about responsibility?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that people are responsible before God for their choices, words, and actions, and must not shift blame for sin. In Genesis 3:12-13, Adam blames Eve and Eve blames the serpent, revealing the fallen impulse to excuse ourselves rather than confess. Similar evasions appear in Saul's defense in 1 Samuel 15:20-21 and Aaron's account in Exodus 32:22-24. Yet God sees the heart and judges rightly; no crowd, circumstance, or other person can remove our personal accountability. At the same time, Scripture calls us to humble repentance and faith in Christ, who bore the guilt of His people and enables them to walk in obedient gratitude.
