The Bible teaches that God appointed Old Testament persons, events, and institutions as types, or prophetic patterns, that find their true fulfillment in Christ and His saving work. Hebrews 8:2, 8:5 and 9:1-12 explain that the tabernacle and its sacrifices were copies and shadows pointing to Christ, our greater High Priest, who entered heaven itself by His own blood. Exodus 40 records the earthly sanctuary that foreshadowed this better reality.
