The Bible warns that ignorance of God and his truth brings spiritual ruin, while the fear of the Lord begins true wisdom and life. Hosea 4:6 and Isaiah 5:13 portray God’s people suffering because they rejected knowledge, not because divine truth was unavailable. Proverbs teaches that wisdom requires humble instruction, reverence for the Lord, and diligent attention; zeal without knowledge is dangerous (Proverbs 1:3-8; 19:2). Sin darkens the mind and alienates us from God (Ephesians 4:18), but Christ frees those who abide in his truth (John 8:32). Faith therefore grows through hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17), by which the Lord graciously teaches and restores his people.
