What does the Bible say about miracles through evil agents?

Bible Topic · WEB

The Bible teaches that evil agents may perform impressive signs, but their wonders are deceptive and must never be allowed to overturn God’s revealed truth or lead people from Christ. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 warns that even a fulfilled sign does not validate a prophet who urges devotion to other gods; God’s people are to love and obey Him. Jesus warns in Matthew 24:24 that false christs and prophets may display great signs to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Paul says the man of lawlessness comes with satanic power, false signs, and unrighteous deception in 2 Thessalonians 2:9. Revelation 13:13, 16:14, and 19:20 likewise portray demonic signs serving rebellion. Believers should test all claims by Scripture, cling to the gospel, and trust God to preserve His people.
