What does the Bible say about worship?
Bible Topic · WEB
The Bible teaches that worship belongs to God alone, who is worthy of our reverence, love, obedience, and praise. In Exodus 20:3 and Deuteronomy 5:7, God forbids all rivals, while Deuteronomy 6:13 calls His people to fear and serve Him only. Jesus confirms this in Matthew 4:10 and Luke 4:8, rejecting Satan's temptation with the command to worship the Lord alone. Even faithful servants and angels refuse worship: Peter in Acts 10:26, Paul and Barnabas in Acts 14:15, and the angel in Revelation 19:10 and 22:8. Therefore Christians worship the Triune God through Christ, rejecting idolatry, superstition, and the exaltation of creatures.
